Half Oval Treat Holder

It's my turn to share a "How-To" post on the C.C. Designs Blog today, so I came up with an idea for an easy little treat holder...

The new by DIEzyne Half Oval Dies were designed to make creating easel cards a breeze, but I always like to find ways to get a little extra mileage out of my dies. That's how I came up with this little idea!

To make your treat holder, you'll need a few basic supplies: scoring board, die cutting machine, by DIEzyne Half Oval Dies, and heavy-weight cardstock.

Start with a piece of heavy-weight cardstock. (My measurements are for using the middle half oval die for the base... adjustments can be made to use the larger half oval if desired) Cut the base piece to 3 1/8 inches x 6 1/2 inches. (I used Bazzill Wax Lips for my base.) Score it at 2 3/4 and 3 3/4.

Line up the Half Oval with the opening facing the score line, hold in place with washi tape if needed.

Cut and repeat on the opposite side.

Now you can fold at the score lines, making sure the pierced details from the dies show on the outside of the treat holder.

Use the smaller Half Oval to cut a decorative piece for the front of the treat holder, lining up the opening of the half oval to the edge of the paper. I used paper from the Doodlebug Back to School 6x6 pad.

Adhere this piece to the front of the holder. You could decorate the back as well, but I only added to the front of mine.

Next up, I made a tag for my little treat pouch. I used the apple image and a partial sentiment from Meoples Royal Magic, and C.C. Cutters Make-a-Card Die #2. The apple is cut out with a 3/4 inch circle punch.

Just adhere the layers together...

...and now you need to punch a hole through the front and back of the treat holder.

I didn't measure for the hole, I just eye-balled it and aimed for the center. :)

Now you're ready to load up your treats... I used Hershey's nuggets for mine, but you could also use lip gloss, small nail polishes... I'm sure there are lots of little gift items that would fit!

To add a little extra detail, I wrapped the nuggets with matching paper. Each wrap measures 1 inch x 3 inches, and is held on with a bit of 1/8" Scor Tape.

Now load them into your pouch... I was able to tie the holder closed tight enough so that the treats aren't going to budge, but if you want to be certain they stay in place, use a little bit of Scor Tape or some glue dots.

I finished it off by tying the tag on with Doodlebug Beetle Black Twine.

The last day of school is approaching fast, and this will make a sweet little treat for my kiddos to pass out at school. It's not limited to school treats though! Just change the colors to make cute party favors, or put names on them for place settings at a table... the possibilities are endless!

That's all for today!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
